None to date. Football in high school, full contact martial arts and the worst one I suspect, crit racing on a bicycle. That bike chit is dangerous!
None, knock on wood. Injuries? I've found that if you pay attention, accidents are less likley than when you don't pay attention.
I wore a helmet to play football. Raced my Porsche with a full face, fire resistant helmet. Ice and alpine climb with a helmet. Generally ride my bicycles with a helmet but not always. And I have broken a bike helmet in a crash..head met pavement, hard.. Without a climbing and bike helmet I would be dead, or have severe brain damage, no question.
I don't rock climb in a helmet. Although I've taken numerious (dozens and diozens) falls up to 70' there. And I don't ski in a helmet. Although I do own one.
So my decison to not wear a helmet is by choice.
I also don't begrudge anyone that wants to wear a helmet. Although I believe most would better served by simply skiing within their limits and pay better attention to what they are doing. If you need a helmet to feel more secure..or think you are safer with one, good on ya. Wearing won't hurt you. It will geenrally limit your hearing.
My wife just started skiing again. She asked my opinion on a helmet and I gave it. She then asked everyone she could find at work...and they all wear helmets. Reason? "Because people will run into you."
To date no one has ever ran into me. But then I do pay attention...and don't ski on beginner and intermediate slopes very often. When I do I pay attention to incoming and I can generally still hear them coming .
