After both A-Basin and Loveland got really close to opening last week, a warm spell hampered snowmaking this week, until... tonight. There there is a storm bearing down on Colorado and it looks like it's close to go time. It's starting to snow and temps will drop so they can make snow again tonight.
A-basin had a snowcat out today knocking down the snow whales, and they even pushed snow up to the lift. I doubt they would expose that snow unless they are *very* close to opening:
You can follow A-basin's snowmaking progress on Al's blog:
Loveland's webcams don't provide as good intel, but you can see they are also close:
And follow Loveland's snowmaking progress here:
I'm not a WROD affectionado, but I love a good race, and A-basin and Loveland put on a good one for us each year. Any speculation who will open first and when?
I'll speculate A-basin opens tomorrow and Loveland opens Saturday. Any other guesses?
