Bindings too heavy for son?

I purchased a used set of skis with bindings that are perfectly sized for my 7 yo son.  I was getting them cleaned up for the coming season, got a pair of used boots as well so now the bindings need to be remounted. That part I get, but I received a call from the shop saying the bindings are "to heavy" to mount for my son?  It is a youth package so I am not getting what this means.

Any insight would be helpful.

Chances are the DIN is too high. He probably needs a .75-4.5 or at the most a 2-7 DIN binding either are designed to work with a child lug boot.

I have a 7 year old, has his DIN at a touch under 2. Which is on the high side even then, but he races. If the binding is a typical 3-11, say, prolly that's the issue. Keep in mind that kids don't have much muscle to support their knees, yet because of their weight and speeds, generally don't produce the forces a binding wants to release.

More so, not his weight, but the BSL is a junior lug and will not fit in a 3-11 (see: Adult Binding) without an adaptor (Marker M10 or Look NX)

I think i get it now, just didn't understand the way they put it.

The bindings only go to 2 because of his weight and level1 ability the setting needs to be lower.  Ski shops need to say this. "to heavy" made no sense.

Thank you to all that responded
