Shell fitting with or without footbed?

I am currently working with Jim Mates here in Seattle to resolve a slew of boot issues stemming from my ignorance in purchasing my first boots, and the sales person's lack of fitting knowledge.

Now, on to my question. When sizing the shell of a boot (fore/aft/left/right), should ones orthotic or footbed be in the shell? I ask because I am flat-footed, and when I stand on my orthotic, my arcyh rises and my toes pull back: in effect my foot shortens.

Thanks

Keith

In your case, yes!

if you are skiing with footbeds then yes,  if you are skiing footbed-less then no.
