The dice are looking good for you weekend.  The bird reports 8" last night and 21" in the last 48 hours but the 8 they reported last night looks like more on the cars from my window and it's still coming down.  Conditions were great yesterday. Had a blue bird day between the snow storms.  This is the view at 7 this morning.  Looking pretty snowy.

Sounds like a Mid-A meet up at Alta/Snowbird is possible soon.  I'll be there April 5. :D

Nice, saw that lots of folks are doing it right in April.  WG's still looking open Saturday.  Still looking at going for a couple hours if weather still holds.

Well snowbird didn't suck today.

Still puking at lunch time.

Getting it while it's here.

Mineral basin in the afternoon is doable as visibility improves in time to enjoy some fresh tracks.

Peruvian is shut down now and it's still puking.

See ya's soon, no waiting on a powder day.

I still have Wintergreen/April 5 on my radar screen and will stay in touch.  Forecast calls for warm temps remainder of week, but not so wet.  Maybe snow will hold up and we'll get that great spring spring ski day we're looking for on Saturday?

PS:  these Utah snobs have hijacked your thread royally.

I approve of that hijack 100%.  Lady Salina gets the :ahijack:Thumbs Up of the day award!

Oh I think boot is working this weekend but not in that direction.  Shame, I'm sure he'd love to go.

When we had the vote in Utah I hadn't skied with you yet, LS. If I had I might have voted Whistler. wink.gif Envious of you and Grump at the bird. Enjoy.

As of now Wintergreen is still planning to open 9-5 Saturday.  I'm going on the hunch that we'll have the place mostly to ourselves.  Anyone think it might actually be pretty crowded?  Not sure if I'll have the posse along or not at this point.  Their weekend plans are still kind of undecided.

Vince is a maybe too, but I'm getting somewhat stoked.  The forecast looks like a gorgeous spring ski day if they can hang on to some good terrain.  I may try to find some recruits from DCSki and see if we could do a lunch grilling a la A-Basin in the lot next to the Lookout Lodge and the tubing park??

Tailgating sounds like fun.  I parked in that lot a couple years ago on the last day of the season.  It wasn't crowded at all.

Weather is looking gorgeous but snow will be sloppy mush hahaha.  Bringing deep structured, warm weather waxed ROCK skis!  Kids are wishy washy as the snow will be about coming along but I'm pretty solid on this.  Only question is how early the skimobile will leave Durham, NC.

It's looking like I'll have a van-full.  Me, The Colonel, TeleRod, and probably Vince.  I'm thinking we'll try to get there by about 930AM.  Only thing that will stop us is a turn in weather for an all day soaker.  I thought I had a little portable grill in garage, but don't see.  Do you have one Charles?  I wouldn't be surprised if The Colonel's got one.  We'll bring lunch food.  You bring some soft drinks. Let's exchange cell numbers by PM.

Since it looks like the van is already full, I guess I have ski with the B team.

I can get my hands on a portable grill and probably a small bag of matchlight charcoal (if it didn't get mushy in the shed).  If someone's got a camp stove that would be better, but what I have should be fine.  And I'll bring some pop and waters.

B-team looks sweet, but I wouldn't want to pay the tab for that this weekend.

That would be great.  We'll bring meat, buns, chips and salsa, etc.

Last Tracks of Spring 2014.  My first lift served Mid Atlantic April ski day!

Pretty good parking spot for arriving at 9:30

Sled Dog ready to rock!  Chance of Snow was off skiing Highlands with the Big Dogs!

Groundhog on Big Acorn looking for his shadow again..

Oh oh, he found it!  6 more weeks??

Jim and the kids fired up the grill over at the gazebo while I went and took some solo laps

Highlands was some serious, boot deep slop by the time I got over there.  Still skiable if you don't mind mashed potato face shots hahaha.  Sunshine was skiing really nice.  Sorry, no photos as I had the whole place to myself.  Even self service lifts for the most part.

VinceK and the Colonel at the Gazebo

TR15 hiding his clean shaven face..

MMMmmmmmmmm.

See you next fall.

Beautiful spring ski day.  One we didn't expect to get in the mid-Atlantic.  April ski days are rare here in Virginia.  If Charles or Rod start a trip report thread I'll add some pics tomorrow.  Here's one of a portion of the group:

L-R:  TeleRod, The Colonel, Jamesj, VinceK, Chance of Snow getting ready to head down a black diamond run called Cliffhanger:)

Just post them here JamesJ.  No need to start a new thread.  Or, just post a link if you're doing something at DCSki with them.;)

Wow, looks like you had great weather at Wintergreen for you final ski day.  Wish I could say the same, the snow here has been relentless as you can see in Bruce and Mamie's cell phone photos below from today.  The snow just hasn't quit falling, so much for my spring ski adventures.

Awe, sarcasm sounds like a bit of a harsh word, just wanted the only people I really know on the forum to see I was following them too ).  I do really wish I could have been with everyone at Wintergreen.  This crew is always so much fun!

I too would've had a great time at Wintergreen in April if not for the timing of my annual Alta Lodge trip to meet up with friends.  The bonus was being able to ski with Lady Salina at Snowbird for a little while.  Also had a couple lessons with Arthur Haskell, who lives in Hillsborough, NC.  So folks from the Carolinas are having fun out in Utah.  Just not exactly a day trip. ;)
