Beaverhead County's a beautiful area. Would be super tempting to buy it if only the operating expenses of a ski area weren't so astronomical (and if I had the money).

Still, the price is pretty insane, especially like you said, that's the cost of just a lot at many resorts. Really wild to think about. Anybody here ever skied Maverick before?

It's a enjoyable intermediate Mtn with hotsprings just a few miles away. Has a couple of fun archery shoots in the summer.

Great. Now if only I could afford the cost of a lot at the major resorts...:D

Thanks to the SEC, you can now crowd source the funding for stuff like this.  I am sure the fraudsters are salivating at this prospect, but so are those looking for legit deals.  Roadrash, if you want to own it check out the JOBS Act.  You and a bunch of locals who will ski there can chip in  and together own the thing without a mortgage.  You can pay off the small investors with a T-Shirt (like Kickstarter), a free season pass for a year or so, and dividend checks if it ever makes money.  Best of all, you will create a paying job for yourself: Pres. & CEO.  You are only looking at 85 people with $10,000 each, or 850 people with $1,000 each. $20 for group or private lessons is pretty cheap.  Perhaps you can raise the prices.

Maybe we should all get together and buy the place. An Epic collectively owned resort.

How the heck do you get to this place?

It's been for sale for several years. I believe at one point it was a lot less than $850k.

Teton Pass sold for $270k in 2009.

Another classic example of how to make a small fortune.  Start with a large one and buy a (fill in the blank).  This would make for a very cool working retirement though.  If you think flying to Bozeman is a challenge wait till you try Dillon.

Have not skied Maverick but been through that country a few times.  It is SPECTACULAR country!  Heard good stuff about the hill and snow quality.  Some of the very best of the west.  Dillon is a cool little college town in its' own right.  Great fishing around the region.  Real ranch country, not the best place to be a vegetarian.  Big Hole is very deep in western history, Lewis & Clarke slept here, Chief Joseph and his people had a very bad time here.
