Lange RX 120 vs SX 120

I went to Surefoot yesterday to start the boot fitting process and was recommended that I get the new Lange SX 120 boots.  It seems that these are good for wide foot people, which I wouldn't necessarily consider myself.

Because Lange's website doesn't have a product comparison tool, does anyone know what the difference between these 2 are?  I didn't try on the RX line when I was in the store, but think I might go back.

You can find the information about many boots in the latest issue of Ski and probably Skiing and they are good sources of width and volume information.

As importantly I'd ask myself if Surefoot is a boot fitting company or a company that sells boots.

The SX is a 102 lasted boot which I would say will comfortably fit an "E"  width foot and poorly fit a narrow foot.  If you are "C" or narrower I'd only look at boots 98mm or less.  I"d also go to a shop where they measure the width of your foot and know what they are selling

did they do a shell check?

did they also check how much width was in the shell during this shell check

did they explain why they would recommend the SX (especially if you think you do not have a wide foot), the vast majority of people who i see who think they have a wide foot measure medium at best, very seldom does it go the other way

got to agree with lou on this one, sounds like an easy option that they can pump full of foam when it feels too loose after a few days skiing

where are you, we can probably suggest a really good boot fitter somewhere in the area

NYC.

Surefoot measured my foot first.  Just wondering if I should be considering the RX.  Have only heard great things about Surefoot

unsolicited information:     http://www.epicski.com/a/boot-fitting-which-boot-will-work-for-me

Please click on and read the compiled information held in the above article, especially the part about "Shell fitting" the boot---this is the starting point in fitting boots correctly.

I think, you, asked us for advice---apparently, we don't promote Surefoot shops on this forum because we see the results produced.

I and most all of the fellas on here would tell you the same info as CEM mentioned in the above quote.

The answer: The RX comes in a 97mm and 100mm last width and we stock and  can order which ever one fits you best---the SX comes in a 102mm last width and will fit wider feet, it also has a softer panel over the instep to make the boot easier to put on.

If Surefoot hasn't measured your foot width, or length and then shell checked the boot they plan to sell you, perhaps you should consider our advice.

Not to belabor this, but you've only heard great things about surefoot, it looks as though they did an incomplete job, recommended the wrong boot and you've had to come to us to figure it out.  There is a good fitter in NYC and there are several in VT.
