Freeskiing or Newschool skiing involves tricks, jumps, and terrain park features, such as rails, boxes, jibs, or other obstacles. "Newschoolers", or those who specifically ski in this style are often found in terrain parks, which are designed specifically for tricks.
I don't want to divert the thread too much, but can someone please explain the "free" part of this specialized, judged, big money, made for TV industry that exclusively utilizes only man or machine made objects or snow that is mostly or completely made & shaped by machines? Not that there is anything wrong with it, I just think that the title "Freeskiing" or "Freeriding" is far from what it actually is when there is little if anything that is actually natural of free about it. In fact isn't "freeskiing discipline" an oxymoron?
When I go "freeskiing" it is usually in functional clothing, on natural snow & natural un-groomed terrain.
