first TAHOE trip! Where should we stay?

We're circa 30-year-old east coast snowboard girls coming out to Tahoe for a week this December/January.  Where should we stay?  What town is the most fun for young(er) people?  We're not crazy party girls, but we do enjoy a good bar and some good eats.  Thanks!

South Lake Tahoe is better for nightlife options. Both Squaw and Northstar Villages have a bar and some restaurants. Truckee has a bar, restaurants and easy acces to Squaw and Northstar. The nightlife seems to be quieter on the North Shore overall, but the skiing is better. All depends on your priorities. December may be a dicey time with snow, could be really good or completely bare. It has been a while since I remember a nice January in Tahoe.

The Resort at Squaw Creek is a beautiful resort.

It is nestled in the hillside in Squaw Valley. It is ski -in/ski out.

Great Spa and Gym. Your nearby the Squaw Village.

No need for a car. CON: Its pricey

My partner and I stay at one of the big casinos in Reno.

Check out the Silver Legacy or El Dorado Casinos.

Its cheaper. Con: 45 minutes from resort. You have more of a casino experience,

than a mountain experience when you are not skiing.

If you stay in South lake Tahoe they have Casinos/Hotels

within walking distance of the Hotels. Harrah's Casino is the happening

place. There are 4 casinos in the area.

I am sure you will get a lot of other recommendations.

It depends where you want to ski. A condo is another

option.
