ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is the organization responsible for releasing the new names but you will be able to apply for a domain name with one of the new TLDs from 1&1, Go Daddy, 123-reg and other companies that sell domains.

This means that even if bluelagoonhotel.com is taken you might be able to register bluelagoon.hotel since .hotel is one of the new TLDs. As well as business categories such as .florist, there are also other names such as .ski, .wedding and .photography which could be either a business or a hobby site.

Yeh, one of the first things that came to my mind.   The other ones were a little bit less presentable.    For example mono.ski might just have an interpretation problem.   Loquieres.ski is a bit too obvious.

Verry interesting.

They just like collecting more and more fees for blocking access to "clone" sites by making you buy up all the possibilities.

That sounds quite believable, but I wouldn't be the first person to suggest  'whitefish.ski'  should go to whoever wants it.

Well, I am sure that the resort has the deep pockets to buy it, but it impacts a couple of the sites I maintain and they can't.
