Jackson Hole in December

Thread Starter

My father and I are planning our ski trip for the year. We want to go to Jackson Hole for the first time, but our trip has to fall in mid-December because of my university schedule.

Does anyone have any opinions/information about what the snow is like in December? I know JH gets around 400' of snow per season, but I don't know if most of that comes later in the season.

Will we have a full resort of skiing or will only half or so be open by our trip date? Thanks in advance.

Jackson probably won't have full, but Grand Targhee just over the pass could.  Go for it.

I have skied great powder at that time.  It is a crap shoot.  You could come here and have the snow arrive as you are leaving.  It doesn't mean anything, but it feels to me like a big winter coming up.  It will be more clear in November.

Welcome to EpicSki, Nathan.  We have no idea how the snow will be this December.

Could be this.

(What Shredhead said - Targhee is your best bet for early snow, and it's right over the mountain.  You can even ride the bus over there.  The first picture was taken by me at Grand Targhee [just not in December, no]).
