Looking for a new ski, Patron and Soul 7 at they top right now.

Advancing intermediate, 45yo, 6ft, 210lbs, ski some in the southeast, but normally more days out west. Starting exploring off trail more last year at Steamboat. I don't ski particularly fast I don't think. Improving every day out I feel. Want a ski that has ability in powder but also on piste. Last year, started to feel Ike I could better handle longer skis. My prophet is 178.

Currently ski the Prophet 90 but wanting to add a "fatter" ski to the lineup.
Was ale to try the Line SFB last year in 6+inches of fresh snow and really liked it, although the demo I had felt a tad short. I know it's supposed to be a pretty soft ski. That got me wanting to explore new skis (imagine that).
The Soul 7 caught my attention at the end of last season from all the positive reviews I read and personally from someone in a local shop.
The Patron came to my attention by the guy working the demo shop last year who said if Iliad the SFB, I'd really like the patron.

I know of a Patron with a good price, but I'm also very intrigued by the Soul 7....
any expert opinions on which ski, and what size? Or an alternate? Helldorado?

The Patron and the Soul7 are different classes of ski. The Patron is a phenomenal powder ski for someone looking for a very nimble ski that floats like a cork but isn't too much to handle on the occasional groomer, it's actually really fun and carves really well but requires edge angles most skiers can't acheive to really ski 'well'. The Soul7 is a touch more versatile (take that with a grain of salt, it's still 106mm wide) better on harder snow and in bumps. We will see plenty of folks skiing Soul7's every day, the Patron is not that type of ski (which in a way is better, it's better at being a powder ski).

You do not want a Helldorado.

You might like the Nordica Vagabond, it is the alternative ski to the Soul7 from Nordica. You might like the Super7 from Rossi, it's the ski that matches up with the Patron.

You want a 185 Patron, could go 180 or 188 in the Soul7
