Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty  aka Falcon_O sat on a wall. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall - actually many. Seven years ago all the kings neurosurgeons and all the kings men couldn't convince Humpty he should never snow ski, water ski or wake board again.

How lame their advice has proven to  be !!!! In a mere 6 months I will be able to laugh at the required repair for severe spinal stenosis and spinal fusion needed to put Humpty back together again.

Save some powder for me as March will start my season.

Oh, my, Humpty/falcon_o.... that's quite an MRI pic!

When was your surgery, and what was fused?

I might be looking at that down the road....holding off as long as I can (mine doesn't look quite as bad as yours).

Best of luck in your recovery!!

My surgery was 8/19 and in addition to the surgery to relieve the severe spinal stenosis, L4/L5 were fused. A completely detached disc was found along with a piece of spine which had broken free. Probably explains the "ouch" with pre-surgery water sports. I am now bionic with screws, plates and rods !!! Sadly my 12 week projected recovery for stenoisis only surgery has been extended to 6 months until I MAY be able to ski.

But, almost all of my pre-surgery pain is gone so IF NEEDED, a good path to follow.

Good luck with yours.

Being pain-free is a very good thing! Once the recovery pain is gone, you're home free!

A friend of mine put off having a fusion for about eight years or so, then finally had it. She says it was the best thing she ever did! I knew her for eight years before the topic ever came up that she had had surgery - that's how good she was afterward.

Enjoy those therapy exercises!

That's going to be one hell of a battle scar!  Good luck to you.

I'm still trying to understand why my neurosurgeon told me 7 years ago I had to give up winter and water sports or I could seriously injury my back .....
