Had a good chairlift conversation on this topic once, thought I’d share. Although there are a select few mountains that have both of these features, this isn’t about those places….
These seem to be the two most common attributes skiers and riders look for in a mountain. Given the choice between the two, which is more important to you? I’ll pass the torch on naming the first flat or dry mountain.
Terrain. The mountain may not get much snow, but as long as the lines are big with consistent pitch, variety, true “gnar”, etc, you’re entertained.
Snow. The terrain may be a low vert, benchy, traverse filled, or even “FLAT”, but they get 450”+ a season, so it’s all good.
Vote away. I’m for “terrain”.
