Lange Venus 6 Softech Women's Boots Purchased New in 2001

Thread Starter

I have a pair of Lange Venus 6 Softech Women's Boots that I purchased new in 2001 at the end of my ski trip.  They were fitted to my feet in the ski shop at Whistler.

Somehow they got put in a box and I've never once worn them.  Not once.

So, here's my question.  I don't ski often.  Even though I've skied for years, I'm a beginner to intermediate skier (at best).

Am I better off renting from the ski shop when I do go skiing (tops once a year, if that). Or should I keep these boots?  Are they fine for my purposes?

Thanks for the advice.

Hi mhconant,

The Venus line of boots were high volume with a pooffy liner (lots of air in it) which will break down quickly and become LARGE inside.

It might be a little better than most rental boots in that it hasn't been used so much.

A "6" level boot (Venus 6) is an entry level (beginner) boot which will keep you in the "entry level" as long as you ski in it---an "expert"

would ski poorly in it.

Read the WIKI: http://www.epicski.com/a/boot-fitting-which-boot-will-work-for-me in this section about how a boot is supposed to fit and

work----you asked for our advice----you can't a get better starting place than the info in that article.  Pay close attention to how you should

"Shell fitthe boots you wear, even in rental.  This issue (shell fit) affects your control out on the ski hill---less control equates to no

confidence or advancement in your skiing.

Clearly you don't ski often and a boot like the model you bought is often sold to beginners but Mike is correct that very few people and especially women have a foot gargantuan enough to get any kind of solid fit from the model you own.  Buy a new boot but go to a proper shop with good fitting credentials.

I don't know where you are located but the latest New Gear edition of Ski Canada has a good article on how to buy boots.
