Buying New Skis- Need Advice [PA, trips NE and west]

Here are the facts- what skis do you recommend?

  • Male
  • 45
  • Expert (but aging)
  • 6'0"
  • 210
  • Ski mainly East Coast (PA)
  • Annual trips to New England and out West (I take my skis out West but usually rent based on conditions)
  • Tight turns on the edge of trails/high speed carving at home
  • High speed cruising/all mountain elsewhere
  • Had a pair of Fischer RX8s for years- LOVED THEM- blew out a sidewall
  • Bought Nordica Fire Arrow 80 Pro XBI- they're OK, but hard to make short turns- great snap out of long carves though- plan to sell them
  • Probably interested in something close to the RX8 or a race ski

What do you think?  Only August but I'm getting itchy to ski already...  Thx

Welcome to EpicSki!  Can't help on gear.  Aging at 45?  You have a ways to go before that should be a concern. rolleyes.gif

Where do you ski in PA?  There is usually a Mid-Atlantic Gathering in Feb after Pres. Day.  We met up at Blue Knob last season.

Mostly Blue Mountain.  The kids have season passes to Bear Creek, but it gets boring...
