TRs - August 2013 Skiing

I joined Gone2Alpine for two ski days up at Timberline. We enjoyed the added vertical of lift-served, soft-serve, corn snow (hard in the early AM) on Palmer Glacier on Sunday, August 4 and Monday, August 5, 2013.

Looking up from the lift:

Mt. Hood:

Gone2Alpine took us to this "bonus" run that was actually narrower than it looks with a little straightline out at the bottom:

Riding lifts was a welcome luxury. I was also happy to take my consecutive month streak up to 118.

I'll be posting August hike-to turns shortly after they take place.

Nice!

Magic Mile still going?

Thanks.

Magic Mile doesn't make it all the way back to the bottom of the lift. It goes down to a sort of short walk back to the parking lot/lift. (It actually got slightly longer the second day as the bottom runout is melting out a little more each day.)

Here is a short video that Gone2Alpine took of me on Sunday:

On Friday, August 9th I did a solo recon mission to the Method Man Patch near Roundtop.

Here I am on the approach...

Roundtop can be seen above my ski tips. The Method Man Patch can barely be seen above the trees on looker's right.

Since this was a solo mission, I tried taking some self-timer photos.

Here are a couple:

Recon mission accomplished. I found a skiable snowpatch.
