With spring break falling the week before Easter this year it is pushing back our ski trip a couple of weeks in 2014. April 12-18
My daughter 7 is just learning to ski and will likely be in a ski school for a few days. My wife is very comfortable on green slopes but struggles with blue and prefers to avoid them in less than perfect conditions. I am a boarder and comfortable on black, but on the family trips usually stick to the blue and green unless I get a couple of hours by myself.
We have been to Solitude. Enjoyed our trip their last spring first week of April. I did find the green slopes not well connected making it difficult for my wife to ski with any rhythm, but other than that it was a good trip. We don't care for night life and prefer a condo to do our own cooking and with a 7 year old a pool is a big plus.
We can't control school dates so if we have a spring ski trip it has to be April 12-18 this year.
Thoughts on going back to Solitude or moving over to Snowbird? How is the green terrain and blue terrain laid out compared to Solitude? Any recommendations on lodging? The Cliff Lodge or Lodge at Snowbird both seem to have accommodations with kitchens? Thoughts?
Being a boarder Alta is out, but if we went the Solitude route we could always sneak up to Brighton easily. My wife isn't overly adventurous and seems to have more fun skiing the slopes she knows and is comfortable with at this point in her development.
Looking through the search function I can see the mid-April trip brings the usual uncertainty to it. I have been to Solitude and know other than flights being booked a few months in advance there is no reason to book any condo or ski passes, etc...However, could I expect the same at Snowbird?
Any suggestions as to the better children's ski schools?
