Taos is one of those places where advanced planning is not the best idea. Come to think of it, advanced planning has seemed like a bad idea almost anywhere in the Rockies the last few seasons. Even the five-day weather forecasts have often been wrong.
Am trying now to decide whom to believe: Taos.org's weatherbug link, snowforecast.com, noaa.gov or Joel (who mostly picks up noaa for nm).
Taos should install a snow-stake cam.
Taos doesn't post their overnight totals on the web or the snow-phone until after 6 or 6:30 in the morning and then often not overnight amounts but 24 hour amounts. Makes last-minute decisions hard for anyone not already on the mountain.
