My point is pretty simple. You're spending $$$ and vacation time to go ski somewhere nice from the East or Midwest once, maybe twice per season at best. Why choose a time/place when the expectation is that 1/4 of the terrain will be closed (which means 1/2 of expert terrain if that is important to you) when you could chose among numerous other resorts in January or the same resort later in the season and expect all the terrain to be open?
Because with 3/4 of the terrain open, Taos is still one of the best, most interesting and unique ski areas in North America?
Taos is so much more than just some statistics.
