The smell of pine in the mountains on a hot summer day

First cup of premium black coffee in the morning

First long gulp of a really hoppy IPA

Clicking into the MTB pedals for a long ride, the hotter and dustier the better

Well Q’ed pork

Comfortable ski boots that fit and I can wear all day long without issues (still waiting at 53…)

The smell of juniper after a short rain.

It seems especially strong in the high desert.

Driving at night in a snowstorm where the big flakes form a shell wrapped around your vehicle like the moment just before the jump to hyperspace in sci fi movies.

Yup, for my Saturday afternoon nap I put on the Router Workshop on TV. I don't know if you guys ever got this program in the USA, but it is basically two guys in plaid shirts talking about different things you can do with different router bits. I just lie on the couch and this TV show works better than any sleeping pill ever invented.

A few, but not all:

Snowcats (for uphill transport, not for grooming)

Helicopters

Snow flowing up my chest and over my shoulders

Flying the skis through 3D snow

The chutes past Catchbasin at Whitewater

Quicksilver at Whitewater

Hot tub bubbles on sore muscles

Very rare charbroiled T-bone

Earl Grey in the evening

Sun on my skin and snoozing on the beach

An osprey or an eagle rising with a fish - and a fast 400mm lens

Seeing deer, elk, bear, otters, eagles, orcas, sea lions - all from the seat of my sea kayak

What is a "lodge boob"? I'm guessing it is a stupid person who goes in the lodge when it is snowing hard.devil.gif

Boobs in the lodge.  Jacketless, under a base layer or tight mid-layer, teasingly framed by a parentheses of stretched suspenders.

A simple, clean turn

'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right.
