Does anyone know when the 2013/2014 ski/gear guides are due to hit the shelves?

I would guess late Aug, I usually get the first Ski or Skiing about then, I think that was when it came out last year or was it Mid Sept???? 'All good things to those who wait!'

it's the first edition of any magazine, I believe it's the Sep issue, so from late Aug to mid Sep depending on the publication.

Last year the magazines did not come out until mid-September.

Many here question the quality and usefulness of the magazine guides. My biggest gripe is that if a particular ski is not listed, it is difficult to tell if they did not like it or if they didn't test it at all.

Ski.net.com claims that the new results are incorporated in their on line gearfinder, but I have not been able to get the gearfinder to work. When I try to refine the search to a specific category or criterion, as opposed to everything, it just goes on the clock with no results.

I believe it's kinda the ski brands that select which skis they wanna send to the demo/test days. I don't think magazines get to pick the skis they wanna test. That's why really getting information from skiers reviews or websites like blister are more valuable in my opinion, but anyway it's always fun to read a gear guide :-)

When these hit, IHMO is when the new season begins.

Sometimes the review is pretty good, I went back and found old reviews of skis I owned or tested and it is pretty accurate. The old Ski and Skiing Gear Guides were much better IMHO and covered a wider range of skis and skiing abilities. Ski Canada has very good reviews too and covers some skis that are not tested by Ski or Skiing. My beef with the tests is there should be a separate East Coast and West Coast Test what they call ice out West is an East Coast Groomer!

It's my understanding that Ski Canada hits in September (print) and they review a few skis, then next issue a few more.  Their online version, from what I understand, publishes complete reviews in December.

Got an email from ski mag this afternoon saying their gearfinder was updated with 13/14 skis. Email said the printed version comes mid August.
