Whistler Blackcomb 'The Camp,

We really enjoyed the WB Ski Esprit and latterly Max4 camps for several years.

Bit disappointed to see this season they are reverting to group sizes of 6, have maximum lengths of 4 days and making it more expensive, removing the previously offered discounts during the quieter Discover Whistler weeks.

Do other resorts offer a similar product? We're really after a multiday camp, smallish group size, skiing with the same instructor each day, for at least 4 and preferably 5 days each week. Ideally somewhere West Canada/USA with enough terrain to keep us entertained for a couple of weeks.

Have you looked at the Taos Ski Week?

NASTC does high end clinics in north Tahoe and elsewhere, but you may consider those too expensive.

If I had a small group of friends who wanted to ski for two weeks and do high level lessons, I would consider creating a special small group clinic for a few days at Bridger, followed by a week at Big Sky with a day or two with an instructor.  The prices at Bridger are low because it's a non-profit.  The caliber of instructors is very high in both places.  Certainly more than enough terrain for two weeks, or more.

I notice they also did away with Dave Murray--they say the combined Ski Esprit and Dave Murray into "The Camp."

I think this camp is still priced lower than a lot of the other camps out there that are similar, with:

  • 3 or 4 days of coaching
  • Private hill space
  • Video analysis
  • Race course training (for those that want it!)
  • Average of 6 people in a class
  • Après Ski (for those that need it!)
  • T-Shirt

Including apres is a bigger deal than it sounds like, given the price of beer in Canada. :)

3 days for $399, 4 for $449, $50 off if you book early, that's quite a bit cheaper than other camps I've seen. But that doesn't mean there isn't something similar and cheaper somewhere. Good luck.
