Release Notes for Tuesday July 30th, 2013

Nothing all that significant with this release.

Untagged Threads Filter

In this release, we're adding a new control to forum pages that will allow you to filter the list of threads to show only untagged threads. This filter will live in the same menu as the "unanswered" and "hot threads" filters, and it will be visible by permisison only. By default your Administrators and Moderators groups will have permission to see this.

We added this to make it easier to sit down and do some tagging. By removing alread-tagged threads from the list, you can see where it makes sense to spend your time.

The Fix List:

#13032In addition to sorting by helpfulness and sorting by star rating, you can now sort a product's list of reviews chronologically. As Grant from Basenotes pointed out: sometimes one review is written in response to another. It can be helpful to line them up in the order they were written and see the progression. Naturally, it's also just helpful to see which reviews are newest.

#13351: We are no longer showing the "restrict from thread" command in the username menu to all Forum Moderators. We now only show it to the ones who have permission to use it. Don't worry - no one without permission was able to use this command even if it was improperly visible to them.

#13454: The voter list will no longer cover the "add reputation" control if you happen to expand both of them in that order.

#13507: At times the forum-page mouseover preview of "last post" did not reflect recent edits of that post. We've tightened this up so those should stay in sync.

#13517: In these same mouseover tooltips, post content would sometimes have unecessary spaces at the beginning. These should be stripped out before display now.

#13533: Featured content description text will no longer wrap underneath the image on Sponsor pages.

#13599: Some of your users have manually inserted smiley graphics from the planetsmilies.net domain. This domain has officially been classified as a malware distributor by Google and we've now blocked the domain. Any such smilies simply are no longer showing up. In this release, we'll be removing references to planetsmilies from posts where they appear.

#13016: When Santa leaves a comment on your review, the email notification will now say "Santa commented on your review" instead of "Santa modified your review."

#13076: HTML entities will no longer appear in activity stream items when expanded.

#13188: We solved a problem with the "add item" flow inside the text-to-tag feature so that you no longer have to retype the text string you highlighted when searching for the item you want to add.

#13353: As requested by TwoCables, the embed image by URL and link tools in the BBCode editor will now be submittable with the Enter key. As a bonus, the "any" key will also work.

#13403: As requested by Seth, admins now see a link to a user's Infractions history in their username dropdown menu.

#13405: As requested by Seth, we'll now show proper content formatting on the Infractions page.

It's something we used to do, and I'm just trying to post these when I remember so people are kept in the loop. Generally I'll strip out the stuff that won't really matter to the community, but I know a few people on here do like tagging so I posted this one.

I read them... Didn't understand them. Voter list? Infractions page? HTML entities? Most of the list is only clear to some IN crowd.

If it makes you feel any better I only barely know about some of those haha. I generally strip out the behind the scenes stuff from what I will post for the community to keep it relevat, but for the bugs list I leave them all in so people know what Huddler is up to. It helps when people ask about "why isn't this new feature developed or bug fixed" questions. It shows how busy they are.

This thread is serving as a reminder to me that what I should actually be doing is writing release notes for my job! :(

I'm glad mine is only copy pasting now (with a bit of editing to get rid of stuff irrelevant to the community). I used to have to write the technical documentation when I worked in IT in the States.

Yours now seems a little bit more fun; however, it does provide a living to put a roof over my head and skis on my feet!
