Renovations at A-Basin...6th Alley Bar

Thread Starter

Here is an Album that Al has set up on Facebook. With A-basin near and dear to many of the Epic Bears hearts, I am interested in seeing what will happen to the area that we usually meet at.

Before:

Where the Bears usually meet.

Dismantling:

All gone:

I can't wait ti see what they have planned for us. Go, Al...Go, Al...Go, Al...

Should be exciting, lets all stay tuned.

I thought of the Bears when I saw that come across Facebook today. I look forward to seeing the remodel and enjoying some laughs in the updated area this winter. I've heard a rumor A-Basin is putting in a murphy bed for Hippie.

Who remembers when the 6th Alley bar was on the third floor?

More photos of the skeleton that is the A-Frame

I wonder if it will have more racks for mugs above the bar.  smile.gif

Oooooh, I hadn't thought of that!

Still gotta get there opening day ... :-)

It's progress. I hope they don't change it so much that I get lost.

I was looking for some history of A-Basin and found this shot of a single chair that(according to the clip) was the predecessor  to the Exhibition triple, which has recently been replaced by Black Mountain Express.

Time marches on, eh?

Oh no!   I sure hope they keep the green theme inside.  From all my years living and skiing in Colorado, Australia & Europe, A-Basin is still my No. 1 go-to whenever I return to Co., and along with white, I want to see green (and maybe a little amber too!).

Won't be long until the snow guns start blasting.

Finishing Up The Bar

There have been lots of questions about the bar.  Our plan is to have it finished and opened by the holidays. By that I mean sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Until then?  The A-Frame will be presentable, but a little rough.  The Black Mountain Lodge Bar will be up and running and we encourage folks to go there for their food and beverage needs.  There will be limited food in the Cafeteria and there will be a small temporary bar in the North End of the A-Frame.

Al posted some sneak peek's of the Nook implemented in the new 6th Alley, with chairs from the old Exhibition lift.

Looks like they did not plow the road at that time.

What's the latest at the Basin with the deck bar?

A little more 6th Alley Stoke from Al's Blog:

^^^ I love the lift cable and grips for the foot rest

It's looking really nice.  That's going to be a fantastic space.   Gotta love A-basin!

And, they are still selling 4-packs for $129 through Dec 20th:

Hint, hint, as an early Mother's day present.  That's a great deal, and you can buy it online.   I forgot to buy one last year and was paying ~$45/day pre-purchase online in late April and May (tix are much more in prime season).

And you can see in this picture the deck is going to be sweet!  Just need to put the railings up.

Those updates look sweet!
And, you're right, those cables/grips for footrest look sharp.

It does look good. Were they working on this all summer and couldn't get it done or has this been the plan all along?

Wish I were up there today... love to hear from anyone who is!

from webcams... blue skies and no crowds. wish i was up there too!

A small group of Bears was at A-Basin on Tuesday (no crowds or blue skies). Near the end of the day the bar was open for what looked like an employee function. Being the nosey bastard that I am, I wandered through. A-basin did it right. Very nice and well done. I look forward to tipping a few in there.

Photos of the new digs?

What does the area that we always put our boots on look like?

I didn't get any photos. The boot up area is smaller now. Pretty much have to put on gear on the other end of the A frame.

I guess so seeing as any smaller and we'd be in a closet!
