Looking for a West Coast ski

Hi all, I'm currently searching for a ski to use during westen ski trips. I live in eastern PA and ski a K2 Charger, but I need something more appropriate for the conditions out west. This year I'll be spending 2 weeks out west, one in Utah and one in Jackson Hole. I'm 6'1" and weigh 220. When out west I ski a variety of terrain including bowls and trees. I'm looking for a ski that will perform well in these situations as well as be capable of handling powder relatively well.

Should I be looking at an 88mm ski or a 98mm ski'? Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks!

I think the advice in this thread is still valid

Not to be too picky, but neither Utah or Jackson are anywhere near the West Coast (from the thread title). That might make a bit of difference in the recommendations you'd receive.

For your size and what you are describing you could go wider, say Head Rev 105, Nordica Vagabond, Kastle FX 104.

Yes I suppose if you want to be picky, the resorts I'm talking about on necessarily on the west coast. Sorry for the incorrect terminology. I posted in the thread referenced above, so I guess we can use that thread and the mods can delete or lock this one.

That's like saying, if you want to be picky, Chicago isn't necessarily on the east coast.

Does it really matter that much that I said west coast? Who cares?

Well, without the West Coast the Rockies would be the West Coast, and then you'd have all our wet heavy snow.

Maritime snowpack vs. continental. It only matters if you think it does... or doesn't. smile.gif
Bottom line is don't over think it and have fun, both shopping and skiing!
