Happy Independence Day!

Today, as we have our backyard bbq's, hit the beaches, watch parades and celebrate Independence Day in our own way, its easy to let it slip by without remembering what kind of courage it took for our forefathers to declare war for this country's freedom. 

Its seldom that we are asked to have that kind of courage.

Gonna watch the world almost get blown up, be at the BBQ (here), then go out front and make lots of sparks and crackles in the street.

Having just visited the Lincoln Memorial I will offer this from Abe's second Inaugural Address  inscribed opposite his famous Gettysburg Address:

 

With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.
