Mt. Bachelor - Snow History for December 27 through January 3

Do any of the locals out there have an idea what the skiing is like right after Christmas?  I tried to find the snow level history for last year online, but I didn't have any luck.  All I could find was history for Bend, Oregon, but that doesn't tell me much about Mt. Bachelor.  Does the ski resort typically have decent snow at that time of year?

Yes!

Been there for many early season races in early December and an abundance of snow. You chances are good!

Base of Bachelor is 6,000 Feet.

go to you tube and search for Mt. Bachelor in December, plenty of video!

Wow!  You were right, Atomicman!  I found tons of videos and there was one for December 27, 2012 showing five feet of NEW snow!  Thanks again!

Mt. . Bachelor, although nothing terribly difficult and only a couple of steep pitches, is an amazingly fun place to ski. Tons of great groomer skiing and lotsa of Pow possible too.

When my boys were racing I skied there about 25 days a couple of season and one race is 7 straight days of SG Downhill and training.

Some amazing skiing early and late in the season!

Lookup conditions for late Dec 2011 for a reality check. Conditions were sparse but the runs were well groomed. We got a dump around Thanksgiving and that was it until MLK weekend when a huge storm rolled in. Late Dec - early Jan is feast or famine. It's the coldest time of year so if you hit right you will be riding dry deep powder. Don't expect the summit to be open but the tree skiing off of NW Express and on the east side off of Rainbow chair will be a blast.

I kinda shy away from planning a ski trip that early in the season - December 27 - January 3 - because most places don't really have enough snow yet.  It sounds like even though there's a chance it won't be "epic" Mt. Bachelor has a better chance of having some decent snow at that time of year than most other places.

It's known to be a pretty good bet for early (and late) season. Here is a trip report from that time frame last year, which was a little above average conditions-wise: http://www.dcski.com/articles/view_article.php?article_id=1374&mode=headlines
