Powder Magazine has a good article about June Lake and its future.

The Future of June Lake

Is it possible that June Mountain will be open for the 2013-14 season?

June Mountain progress towards re-opening for 2013-14 season

Powder Magazine has a pretty detailed article in the July issue about the re-opening of June Mountain.  At the end, it's reported that the GM said crews are working on getting the lifts ready.

See this February article from Ski Area Management.

I really really hope they will open it with some sense...

Make it either a family resort, keeping costs at a minimum, (no stupid parks, insane pipes, etc. groom only the main runs) or turn into Mammoth and the sierra's training center (both freestyle and alpine) and cut the number of parks at MM to 2 (one intermediate/big and a beginner one)

Clearly teenagers are going to migrate to Mammoth as soon as they develop the riding skills to enjoy the Mammoth park and pipe scene. Their parents will probably come with them.

We can build some low cost adventure zones for kids and teens on the hill

Seems like they are going in the right direction...

This is mostly a report of a trip taken to visit four "family friendly" ski resorts in VT and NH in Feb 2013, including Smuggler's Notch and Okemo.  Does include ideas of what is useful to do, but I wouldn't call it a working master plan.  The group that went was not just MMSA management, which makes the notes from a few individuals in the appendices quite interesting.

Iiirc, MM wanted $14m iirc for June. Uuum, Kirkwood was $9m iirc. Northstar cost $58m and sold for $62m. Bruce Willis and a few others gave theirs away. MM must be dreaming. I think a large empire did due dilengence on Mammoth and thought 'no way'. MM should look long term, stop fuuture heamorraghing,  and offload June to a co-op.

master plan was somewhat ironic,
but i think it is still very indicative of the direction that MMSA is going with June

There you go, making sense.  Why do you have to be like that?
