Sizing skis

I want to buy Blizzard Magnum 7.6s. After lots of research I think they are perfect for me for at least the next few years. I am an intermediate. Skied Rented Dynastar 166s at Mad River (VT) last year. Considered myself a beginner but made huge strides last season. Am looking at either 170s or 177s. I am 6'3 and 220 lbs. I know 170 is technically short for my size but I did so well on the 166s I don't want to overreach. Anyone care to weigh in?

Well, I am 3 inches shorter, and 60 lbs lighter than you and I can ski 190s comfortably- and that's in a wide powder ski.  Yes, you are a beginner, yes, you will be skiing Ice Coast bumps, but I can't fathom you skiing something the same length as my 5 ft. 100 lb, rather conservative wife.  Size up.

Depends on the ski and on the venue. Very few ski anything over about 185'ish at the local hill for anything other than speed even race skis. There's just a lot of steep, technical terrain. YM will V according to the hill and particular ski design.
