(snip, because it's CTKook's outrageous comment that's of interest, but that was a good comment MrGolfAnalogy)
Well, I've never quite seen anything like CTKook's statement here before. It's a monument to internet stupidity and an example of mission posting, possibly driven by butthurt, that will stand for the ages. It's hard to count the things wrong with this...but I'll mention a few.
First off, it's one of the stupidest argument tactics ever employed anywhere. If you just pretend that things that happened didn't then of course you can advance your point. I mean, they're only facts, right? Toss 'em out if they don't support your POV.
Second, the bizarre statement "those lives lost are not because of severe, multiple fires over a bad season..." I'm not sure what to make of that. There were, in fact, severe multiple fires burning in the southwest when that happened. IIRC, the southwest geographic area was in Planning Level 4 at the height of its fire season and I believe the largest fire in New Mexico history was also burning, when that happened. New Mexico and Arizona are linked for fire coordination purposes. Stunning, stunning ignorance, and unforgivable in the context of that statement above.
Saying "just one bad day that could happen any season" can be applied to any deaths I suppose, but it really serves to underline and emphasize the callous. cynical, and narcissist nature of that thought quoted above. To discount the lives of those crewmembers and disrespect them, their families and friends and colleagues, as well as, by extension of that thought, all the people who have made sacrifices of time, health and even their lives to protect property and the lands CTKook probably uses, just to make a stupid point. Well, I'm (almost) at a loss for words.
Mod note: Removed personal attack at end.
