As I got older and my knee became an issue I loved the Dolomites as it is possible to ski all day doing some serious miles without repeating a lift. There are 450 lifts on the super ski pass and 1200 kms of piste. I always have a private chuckle when someone in Utah or Vail tells me how big 'their' resort is. I liked to stay in Arraba and ski at least one day on the Marmolada. If you do that find time to visit the war museum that chronicles the fighting on the peak in WW1. Well worth it. NB this is some serious vertical needing three long cable cars to get to the top.
