Anyone up for Ski Trip to Argentina in July

I'm trying to plan a ski trip to Argentina in early July (ideally the first week). I'm finding it hard to get anyone to do it on such short notice but PM me if interested. Would love to have some travel buddies. :)

Hoping for some people crazy enough on this forum haha.

This is generally not a good idea due to higher probability of inadequate snow and South American holiday pricing/crowds.  Your chances of success are much better in August/early September.

Thanks for the feedback Tony. Unfortunately, early july is the only time that would be feasible from a timing perspective but very helpful.

On that note, if I wanted to ski Early July. What would be the best place to go, in your opinion.

Fly into Santiago and then make an audable.

yep, from there you can make your way to who's ever getting it. The last couple of years have been pretty lean with more snow to the south (of course) I would start monitoring now.  TGR has a whole section on skiing in SA with updates from people who are there.

Sweet, do you mind linking me to that thread / section? I took a look but can't seem to find it.

Live in Argentina, early July can be a smart pick as well as a bad one.  In the last years seasons have been very poor so your chances of success are not very high, but coming in August will not increase them dramatically.  If you come in July, avoid the last two week mainly because of holidays.  The ideal one is the first week.

so, basically your odds of getting good snow aren't so good?

This is the best advice.  Termas de Chillan likely would have the best overall track record for early season snow in South America.  That would be 5 hours by train/car south from Santiago.   If Portillo or Valle Nevado group look better when you arrive, those will be easy options much closer.   You could also get a bus from Santiago over to Mendoza, then 240 miles south from there to Las Lenas.   Forget about Bariloche: harder to get there, snow is unreliable even mid-season, so it would take a miracle for it to be any good in early July.

As I've said numerous times snowfall down there is very erratic.  If you have to go in early July vs. August, buy the airfare now but NOTHING ELSE until you know for certain where the snow is.
