Anyone care to discuss the on-snow performance between these..
I'd PM Whiteroom, who may be the only human to have skied both. If he's skied the 77, which is a brand new ski. He's skied the wider Y's, think there are reviews here. So a comparo of those to the 88 may be as close as you get...
I own the Y77 , and have owned the MX78 . While both are great skis , I far prefer the Y77 . It skis smoother , skis a lot lighter , carves better , and is more versatile . Both skis hold an edge beautifully , but I find the 77 initiates a turn much easier .
I wouldn't knock ebay- there are a lot of sellers on there that are actual reputable ski shops and you can get quite a deal if you know what to look for; such as listing you are mentioning
No, no. You misunderstand. Not knocking it at all. That's the first Stockli Y ski I've seen on eBay thus far, and I thought I'd highlight it to the OP. If I saw a demo Y85 in 186cm on eBay I'd likely pull the trigger sans demo (subject to being able to ship it to Aus for something approaching a fair price). I already have two skis in the 78mm width or I'd be interested in this Y77, although it would be just a tad short for me.
keep your eyes open this time of year I saw a fx84 go for about 550 w bindings last week. This is generally a pretty good time to get great deals on skis on ebay. I just got the Stormrider 95 w bindings for $499 about 2 weeks ago. However don't know what shipping would be to your hemisphere
