Hi,

Is there some forecast for SA (Argentina and/or Chile) for 2013 season?

Thanks!  rolleyes.gif

There is no such thing as a "seasonal forecast" that is legitimate IMHO.   Weather forecasts for the next week or so, sure.   The exception is El Nino/La Nina.  The mid-latitude resorts of Portillo, Valle Nevado group and Las Lenas are strongly favored by El Nino.  Farther south I would expect much less sensitivity.  El Nino/La Nina has a dead neutral reading at this time, so there is no indication either way for the 2012 season prospects.

In general reliable forecasting and snow reporting for South America is hard to come by.  No one is open yet.  Portillo has had 50 inches of snow so far. Las Lenas has a 1 meter base at the top and 30cm at the bottom.   These figures are both maybe slightly above average for late May but not to the level of spending advance reservation $ yet.

I do agree!

Since "El Nino/La Nina has a dead neutral reading at this time..." Yes, I think exacly same way.

Looks to me as with El Nino/La Nina  (not necessarily in this order) defines if the snow storms has enough energy to passes over the Andes. If yes, good for Argentina, other way, Chile get a lot of snow. Since amost all storms are West-to-East.

So, for sure, not time to "spending advance reservation $ yet"

Cheers

Eduardo
