Aspen Mountain Reopens This Weekend!

Thanks to a very snowy late season, Aspen Mountain is reopening this weekend for lift serviced skiing and riding! Hopefully you haven’t packed away your winter gear, because this is a weekend that is not to be missed.

What can you expect? Well, keep reading…

Lifts
The Silver Queen Gondola begins uploading at 10:00am and completes downloading at 4:00pm. Once you’re up on the mountain we’ll have the Ajax Express open from 10:00am to 2:00pm for lift serviced skiing and riding.

Open Terrain
Close to 90 acres of terrain will debut including: Silver Bell, Pussyfoot, Silver Dip, Blondie’s, Dipsy Doodle, Dipsy Headwall, Summit, Buckhorn, Pumphouse, Tourtellote Park and North American.

Food & Beverage
The Sundeck will be open for all services this weekend. Yes, that means the bar as well. Also, Ajax Tavern is ready to rock for your lunch, a
près, and dinner needs.

Tickets
Premier, Premier Silver and 6-and-under passholders ride free with their 2012-13 winter passes.  All other Aspen/Snowmass passholders pay a discounted rate for skiing and riding; adult, senior and youth passholders (age 13 and up) will pay $18 and child season passholders (age 4-12) will pay $9. Skiing/riding tickets will be $36 per day for ages 13 and up. Children’s (age 4-12) tickets will be $18. Tickets will be sold at the Aspen Mountain ticket kiosk on Gondola Plaza from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular summer rates will be in effect for sightseeing tickets.  Tickets can also be purchased online at www.aspensnowmass.com and over the phone by calling 970-923-1227.

Ski & Snowboard Rentals
Four-Mountain Sports, located at 520 E Durant Street, will be renting skis and snowboards for $29/day and will be open for rentals from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition, enjoy the spring season by renting skis and a bike on the same day for just $50*.

We’ll have more details about conditions and weather as this Saturday approaches. Until then, go unpack

Here's a math test for you.

If I were to leave Michigan and head west in a VW Jetta at posted speeds and made it to Aspen to ski this weekend, how long would it take for my family to speak to me again?

Just got an email on this opening.  I would guess you gonna have to down load off the Gondola after skiing the upper part of the mountain.  Last time I checked Lil Nell run to the base was mostly bare ground.  Still, it sounds like a great time with 70 degree days!  Ya goin' Shredder?  If I wasn't heading to the Bahamas I would love to  give it a go.

Just do what I did when I went to Aspen and left some people at home (admittedly, not relatives) green with envy that I was going and they weren't:  Buy 'em a "How's your Aspen" t-shirt.

For the record, I'll take a size "large".  smile.gif

Yes, officially you have to download.  If the snows good, sometimes you can go ob and ski down as far as the bottom of Jackpot and walk from there.

I'd like too, but probably not.

Bahamas are nice, I go to Elbow Cay a lot. Where you headed?

Some of us are still kids.  smile.gif  Growing old doesn't mean we've grown up.

If I left before Bumpfreaq, he'd probably pass me if I drove at posted speed limits.

If I left behind Bumpfreaq, I'd never see him.

Have you ever seen him drive?  I didn't think so.........And you thought "the flash" was fast! rolleyes.gif

But I'd be waiting with open arms and a cold beverage when you arrived =)

Or with cold arms and an open beverage biggrin.gif

Well if you took the Fam they could speak the whole time to you.

How about this: We make up a poll to see if you come. Clearly it will say yes. We'll throw in some 'no's to keep it fair. Then you can say you were voted out there.

How about you and Phil ride with Bumpfreaq to save some gas?? Now we're cooking!

So....will Phil/Trek/ziggy/Bumpfreaq make the trip to Aspen to ski with Weems??

I bet it's gorgeous at that top of Ajax lodge up there.
