no worries on that! I don't like that tire at all for up there.  Funny thing is this guys a diehard core rider.

my advice - just buy some tires and start building your quiver

 

today the pile yielded a pair of 1.8 Hutchinson Alligators for my daughter's "9er" (the quotes are for a 10-year-old riding her mom's 26er)

 

Okay tire junkies, how many of those tread can you name?
