Undoing bindings at the end of the season?

Thread Starter

Hey guys just wondering if there is any reason to undo the din settings at the end of the season so that the springs do not loose their springeyness so to speak.

I dont honestly see any harm in doing so.  these would be on marker griffon bindings.

Some say yes and some say no.  In a couple of days there will probably be several pages of post to prove it.

I always adjust them to lowest setting. But unless you keep your ski for 10+ years it probably doesn't make any difference.

Do you jack your car up on stands every time you park it to take the pressure off the springs?????

^^^^ Absolutely. My wife gets a bit steamed when we're late for a movie. But I explain the finer points of spring compression and metal fatigue, and how by 2035 my springs will still be like new, so she offers to buy popcorn if I wash my hands.

I found out that if you fill the back of an 87 4Runner (the old ones that were basically short bed pickups) with lumber from bottom to top you'll ruin the rear springs.  Didn't stop us from putting another 200,000 miles on it after that, until it blew its 4th head gasket this winter, but it looked kind of funny with the rear end dragging (like mine these days.)

Yeah, actually, I would if it wasn't such a PITA, ........ but dialing back the DIN isn't, so I do it. Just prefer to not leave it under load for the off season, just like I hate to sit at a traffic light with the clutch depressed, and just "because" ... :)
