100-year-old woman skis A-Basin

From Al's blog:

Elsa Bailey celebrated her 100th birthday party by having a ski day at Arapahoe Basin.  She first skied 75 years ago.  Ten years ago, after celebrating her 90th birthday at The Basin, she decided her century party would also be at The Basin.  Well, she did it today.  After a few snappy turns on Pika Place, she and her large group of friends threw a big party on The Perch.  Congratulations Elsa.  You inspired a whole lot of people today.  Thank you.

I think we should name her an honorary EpicSki member!

She has a "Bllind Skier" bib on.  And there's the oxygen.  She has two men to help her walk.  Wow!  The muscle memory is still working strong once she gets on skis.

Nice form, Elsa!

Everyone else - nice work in making her birthday wish come true.

Kewl Mother's Day story. My Mom at 78 hates steps.

If I make it that far, that will be one trillion ibuprofens.

Skiing at 90 then 100 is impressive to say the least.

What impresses me more are the many age 78+ skiers out and about riding chairs hunting powder and turning in the moguls like a bunny.

Every decent area has some, we tend to go about our days never seeing them, or talking on the chair, but their name is legion, and I hope I can do half as well as the "mature" skiers I have met.

Definitely read that Denver Post article--what a lady! She's hanging up the skis after 75 years, but still has items on her bucket list to complete!

Had a guy on the lift at A-Basin with me last week. Said he'd finally decided to work on his technique since he'd turned 80. Funny guy.
