That's cool, maybe I will give it another shot now.

Looks like the dude demoing it is making some strange movements while using the brake. Also noticed the actual beginner using it in the video nearly fell over using it. 

 

As a boarding instructor, my recommendation is to first learn the balanced body position. If learners are picking up too much speed during the straight run lesson, the instructor should go somewhere flatter. When learning falling leaf down a pitch, a brake shouldn't be necessary. Maybe it could be useful once you get to turning--though my concern is still whether learners are able to apply the brake without disrupting their balanced body position.
