Jezzuz - you guys. I put up a couple threads on rippin' mag-lev lasers and I don't think any body read them. Skis that kill: Blizz. R-power or WRC. Nord.Dobe.Spit-Pro or GSR or FireArrow. I got Elan GSX's and Dyna.Speed Ti's. I also demo'd many Heads or Fischers like RC Pro or SC or Prog's... and sladly the Salomon X Race...
My FATS are a 168 Atomic Savage which is like an SL for Whistler pow and can carve decently on hard pack. I should replace it with something longer- but I would rather get a real alll mtn. - maybe a Firearrow...
In fact the Savage OUTSKIED THE SOUL 7 demo's last week By A Mile.
I can see why most people like the Soul. It sorta "carves" in it's range. It sorta hangs coming into the fall-line and back across the hill if you is jest skiin' back to the lif'.
It has NO Phase One. The working edge is shorter the a child's ski.
It spins and slarves and skids into safety turns on steep stuff - which is good if you neeed to dump some energy upon landing another huck. The tips bounce around, deflected by crud as it skims home... Meh.
IT does not do anything really well except when the snow is shmoo or you are in the trees in shmoo. Or on some movie-set - which, here in the land of Totally-Schralped, lasts an hour.
Then; it is a life-boat. Sure: it will definitely go places where other skis would be stupid.
IT is not a one-ski quiver unless you are going for lunch.
If you have read this far you have gotten to the real point of this post:
It is not a ski-review.
No; dear reader. This is a review of a thread I have yet to read... a comment on a thread lasting TEN Pages.
These ten pages are a comment on the current State of Skiing.
Me riding chairs for another 150 day season and seeing so few GS turns underneath me that chairs are death by board-om unless some dude is stackin' it.
It is slop-style with the Norwegian's blue gaunch hangin' out while he win's gold at the Olympics.
It is baggy clothing for the guys in ski-cross who have seemingly yet to clue into AERO and why FIS race-suits have to be homologated and tagged...
It is average intermediates able to go any where anytime and think that they are skiing.
