If you haven't watched the 24 hour time lapse of the Loveland snow stake cam then you really should catch it in the next few hours before you miss what happened yesterday.

Great video, Bob.

It just have been a lot of hard work pushing through all of that powder. Too bad you couldn't find some groomers to enjoy yourself.

Stoke from the East Wall today for you all.

So, I couldn't make it up early enough for the Loveland pow fest today, so I bet on the Upper East Wall opening.  Patrol did a ton of control work and finally got it open about 1pm.  They put on a great show.  It's fun to watch them work up there.

East Wall before opening. Patrol is busy doing control work.

Lots of blasting, climbing and cutting as we watch from afar

East Wall - Tracked up after a busy day

All tracked up at the end of a great day

Fun, fun, fun!  What a blast. The upper east wall is skiing very nicely with good coverage.  It's a treat to have it open and skiing this well at all, let alone in May!  It was cold today and the snow was very firm under the new stuff.  When it warms up and softens it will be amazing while the coverage lasts.

The rest of A-basin is in great shape too. It was skiing more like March than May today. Some of the more rugged lines on Pali are pretty well covered for any time of year.  I still can't believe this was a May ski day.

Thanks for the update tball!

It's been frustrating watching the East Wall this season...your shots give new hope...what a present for Mother's Day if the wall gets a little more help.

It absolutely was killing me to miss the snow this week, but life happens.  Great to see so many got out there and got after it.

Very nice to meet you all at the end of the day...my camera got trapped by a stuck pocket zipper and I have no pics at all. It definitely was a spectacular day!

Great video, and happy birthday, Betsy! I am sitting poolside in Florida (down here for the weekend to celebrate my sister's birthday) and just feeling so sorry that you had to contend with so much snow...

A- Basin is in its prime spring mode right now. East wall into land of the giants is skiing great, the cornice drops are dim and Pali's is all bumped up. Woo-hoo.

To think they closed last year this weekend.

What a difference a year makes.

It was a great day up at the Basin with us getting the mountain ready for the Mothers Day crowd. It was the usual suspects on the hill with late addition of Tog who caught a shuttle up from the airport. Tomorrow the festivities start with the arrival of Fairtomiddlin on the hill and everyone else starting to arrive at the Ski Haus. A NEW Trip Report thread will be started tomorrow. As Trek said...
