Bonafide 180cm Binding Suggestions

Looking for bindings for the Bones 180.  i'm an East coast "advanced" skier, (55 yrs old), 5'11" 235.

Currently i ski k2 Chargers (174cm) with Marker 14 bindings

I've looked into:

1 Marker Griffon  - not sure they're good for my size

2 Marker Jester

3 Salomon sth

4 Salomon N STH 16

5 Look/Rossi FKS-14

6 Look/Rossi FKS 180 - overkill?

any comments or suggestions?

thanks

Anything 14 DIN range would be perfect. DIN 12 range would also work, but you will be in the upper range area. Not a big deal but if you want to be conservative get the 14-ners. 16 and 18 DIN are overkill for your size and ski length.

I put the Rossi FKS14 on my 187 Bones. I'm 6' 2" and about 215, advanced skier. I really like them so far.

you mentioned you are on marker14, what DIN do you use?

If it is less then say 9, I would say the griffons still hold up for your style of skiing if that is cheaper than the other options...  But it's your call, if you took price were out of the picture, of course you would get those fancier bindings.

Gerry-

Read this review for the Dynafit Beast binding first, but just read page 1 and 2, for the background info, the Beast binding itself is irrelevant for you. What Marshal Olson wrote there makes a lot of sense to me, and it provides some logic in evaluating bindings.

FWIIW, I spent two seasons on my Bonafide mounted with Jester (last on Phil's list) and so far no issues, but you do need to make sure the forward pressure is in the proper range.  So the truth is that while there are substantive differences, no binding is significantly safer than the other, they are all very good these days.  My favorites would be the Pivot 14, Tyrolia 15, and Salomon.

Honestly, I'd get whatever 14-DIN binding you can get cheap. Just my 0.02c.

I mounted the 2014 Cochises I bought for my son with STH 14's because they're both blue.
