dave b, don't do what Bandit Man says. Good skiers are going to shorter skis.
Don't worry, smithby, I won't take it personal. Good skiers are
going shorter. I sold my 191 10.EX's and went down to the 184 R.EX...see, I am complying with the trend. My point was that a powerful skier still may desrie some length. When I ski Squaw and Mammoth, I feel I need the length for higher speeds and and landing big drops. Someone riding in the east, where the terrain differs, may desire a shorter length. It just depends on the application. I agree that the 177 will work for a lot of people, but for how and where I like to ski, the 184 is perfect...probably one of the best all-mtn skis I have ever been on. I think that they are farily easy to ski, even in the 184 length. I do however, disagree with the notion that if a person is not on the smallest possible size for their size and ability that they are doing something wrong. That is why people should do as you recommended and demo to find what works for them. Who knows, Dave B might try the 184 and find it to his liking.
