A couple of weeks ago, we visited friends who live in Grimentz, in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. (They run a property management and rental company there: http://www.frozenaction.ch/ .)
The Val d'Anniviers is a relatively unknown region, with four separate ski areas: Grimentz, Zinal, St Luc / Chandolin and Vercorin; we made it to the first three on that list. (Grimentz and Zinal are due to be linked next season via a new tram/cablecar.)
To generalize: Zinal has the consistently steepest pistes; Grimentz has rolling runs with a great variety of terrain; St Luc / Chandolin tends to have a higher proportion of flatter, "cruisey" runs.
All the resorts have excellent off-piste areas, which usually see relatively little traffic.
