A-basin in May this year

Thread Starter

I'm considering flying out to Denver from MSP to ski A-basin in May since tickets are so cheap, and A-basin seems to be having a great late season this year.  My dilemma is that I can either come the weekend of May 17, but that would be by myself, or I can come during the week of May 26 and ski with a friend.

If I were to come during the week of May 26, will A-basin even be open mid week?  Or do they go to weekends only in May?

Also, based on current conditions and how A-basin tends to operate in May, any guesses to what kind of terrain will be open?  Will there still be some steeps, or do they tend to limit it to groomers by that time.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated, since I'm trying to decide if the trip would be worth it.  Thanks!

Based on normal operating conditions (which I think they have reached by now): they will be open every day, not just weekends, and at least  through 2 June, possibly longer.

Steeps are different ... they usually close Pali lift by the third week in May. If it stays unseasonably cool, it will be longer, but there was a wet slide there some years back that killed a skier, so they are careful now. With those two weekends you're looking at, hard to say.

Sorry to interject on your thread, but I have a question.

Will the Black mountain lift be running in may, if yes, I can plan a trip to work on the greens there
