Sad news indeed.  He was quite the visionary & will be missed :(  Thoughts to his family & all those whose lives he benefited (myself included).

Between Earl and Orvil Slutzky, the ski world lost two giants that had the skier first in their visions on how to run a ski area....Earl, who I met once, will be missed.

On my 2011 drive from the East Coast  to ski  Utah three of the first things I remember seeing as we entered the mountains had to do with Mr Holding: a Sinclair refinery and Little America truck stop on I80 in Wyoming and our first ski destination Snowbasin.

From the link provided by Oisin:

"Earl was an incredible builder," former Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson told The Salt Lake Tribune. "He had huge dreams and seemed to turn them all into reality."

"There were many of us who had differences with Earl on certain issues," Anderson told The Tribune. "But I don't think anyone can have anything but the most profound respect for Earl Holding's dedication to doing everything to absolutely the highest quality."
