I hate to say it but this may affect where I decide to ski. I really don't want to be on a ski lift having to inhale secondary pot smoke.
It's not legal to toke in public in Colorado, but good luck getting somebody to care.
In 30 years of skiing in Colorado, I have NEVER EVER EVER seen somebody start burning one in the lift line. I'm pretty much calling BS on that- Who is fumbling with pockets and taking off gloves to fill a pipe while shuffling around the queue?
As for the chairlift ride, yep, it happens, and this year I have seen an increase in it. I think most pot smokers would refrain from smoking if they were sharing a lift with a parent and kids, and if they didn't, I'm sure the overwhelming majority of smokers would hold off if asked.
As for riding behind a chair smoking pot? Welcome to the land of today. Its obvious that full legalization is a matter of when, not if, and this will be life. Your kids won't get cancer from somebody burning a joint in the open air 40 feet in front of you. It won't ruin your kids for life for them to find that other people smoke, no more than it ruins them to find out that other people drink Educate them about the risks.
I really think this more of a morality gripe than anything having to do with health or other issues. Pot smoke from the chair in front of you is not going to get into your clothes. If this is really that big of an issue for you, well, enjoy the next 5-10 years before it is legal in 50 states.
