All you've got to do is win that race and you get a hug from Pernilla??

Some highlights from the first half of last season.

Two outstanding things for me last season, aside from the general awesomness of the snow pretty much all season: speed skiing in Verbier at the world cup and getting a PB (147.14 km/h, 91.4mph):

Doing the Temmos Freeride (FWQ) competition in Chamonix (made a bit of a mess of it, got lost & disqualified (out of bounds), but enjoyed it immensely!):

I also managed 57 days of skiing and 130km of vertical, new records for me.

My son (5) passed his premiere étoile.

On the not so good front, I sprained my thumb (again) crashing when a front binding broke on a ski cross run (Salomon toepiece cracked down the length of the barrel).

Yeah, I'm a wimp compared to all the pieces your tibia and the plateau were in. Mine was only three pieces.

They are always a bad one.  I'm just funnin' with you.  I hope you are healed up good.  My knee will never be what it was, but I am still skiing.  I continued to get improvements for about two years.  In other words, that's how long it took to get as good as it could.  My joint surface was broken like punching a hole in Styrofoam. Also has meniscus lifted off the bone.  Be good and thanks for showing us your hardware.

Let me see if I can load the first X-ray.

Hard to see but the fib is broken too.

Here is a short video of some of my epic moments from last season. Limited on the footage from last season due to a lost GoPro, but this is what I scrounged together for an edit.

Not gonna lie, I'm going to need to change my shorts after watching that.

Most memorable was arriving at the top of the Gold chair at Nakiska right when a Nakiska signature high wind blew through.  It went from sunny clear day to blizzard for about five minutes.  Really cool visual.  The skiing was crappy that day but that made up for it i thought.

Most memorable for me was doing Highlands Bowl for the first time with my son.  Pretty cool stuff.

As we were closing in on the end of March last season I thought all the good powder days were done. Considering we still had one more shoot scheduled at Island Lake Catskiing I figured it would be spring like snow, but fun. It was only two days before we were to leave I received a phone call from Mike at Island Lake telling us we might need to cancel as they have two days of rain and it wasn't looking good. There was still a pretty warm storm cycle rolling around the area but a chance that some cold weather from the north was going to be dropping down hopefully turning the precip into snow. At the end of the conversation Mike from Island Lake said kinda jokingly, "Hey it could snow 2' tomorrow night, and were back on. Who knows it's done it before"

Well guess what it snowed more than 2' that next night and we got the call to head on up. The area continued to hold on to cold temps for the next few days sucking the moisture out of the snow. WOW, What a surprise the conditions were, the best of the season!  To top it off it snowed another 1' the night before our final day and it continued to snow another 16" throughout our last day and that night.

Here's a recap of one of the better trips I've had the pleasure of doing ecspecially in late March. Gotta love Island Lake catskiing and the Lizard Mountain Range.
