like a bunch of us - I did quit...
for a time... somewhat lengthy
there would have been those who said I would never quit, unless I became 'late' (dead)
but proximity, attention to other things, easily forgotten thrills of sliding down a snowy slope, all conspire to divert the most steadfast of us...
I am getting older, and can;t quite (or won;t) do what I could do years ago. But it's still fun to get out, now that I've refound lift skiing.
I know 4 guys in their 80s who ski all day, albeit at their pace... I could live with that.
Sometimes the excess of money, time effort involved to doing liftserviced skiing get me reconsidering. But I always seem to find a good rationalization for continuing.
Rationalization, is of course one of humanity's deadliest sins....
Yes, it's skiing, but it's more being outside, on a mountain, in Winter.
Sure, I like a bluebird day, but I LUV when the weather gets rough and raw. The Mountains show their true nature.
I think I would surely miss that.
Tried the ocean/water thing, and it's great and special in it's own way. But for me it's forest, rock, snow and ice that really fills my sail.
I can quit DOWNHILL skiing again, but I won;t ever quit the mountains.
